Right out of the gate, that’s a much more interesting and inclusive backstory than most of the superhero flicks we see. In addition to seeing more glimpses of the four protagonist’s powers (land, air, water, and were-bear) it seems the filmmakers made a big push to emphasize the humor that will show up in the film. Without speaking or understanding a word of Russian (well, except “Bagel” because it’s pronounced “boob-lick” and I’m eternally a 12 year old boy) the movie appears to have a grasp on who the characters are, the mastery of their powers, and their role in stopping the big tech-controlling baddie.
Visually speaking, this new trailer appears to have cleaned up the CGI a bit (a concern we had back in September) and includes honestly beautiful shots. Made for only 330 million RUB (5 million USD), Guardians feels like it could be on par with a lot of big budget action films (excluding maybe the big guns of MCU and DCEU).
